Description

Excerpted from the website:

Grokdoc is an offshoot of Groklaw, which you can visit also. Groklaw has the goal of covering legal news. Grokdoc is our newbie usability study, our attempt to help new users of GNU/Linux systems make the transition in a pleasant way, using the open method that proved so successful in developing FOSS software. You can help by your contributions. Anyone can help, and we hope you will. Just sit down with anyone you know who is new to GNU/Linux and observe what they do. Then tell us what they have trouble doing. We ask you to limit your observations for now to email, writing and printing a letter, surfing the web, and setting up a firewall. If they want to install the software themselves, by all means include that too, but it isn't required. Let us know the distribution they tried, Red Hat, Mandrake, Knoppix, etc., and the version of the distro, and if possible whatever info you have on the hardware being used for the test, then what application(s) were used, and what version of the application. That's it. Full instructions are on the Main Page. Have fun, and thank you for helping this international community effort! You can also visit Grokline, which is our tracing of the ownership history of UNIX code. Our goal with that community project is to update the Eric Levenez chart and make it harder for any future legal attacks on GNU/Linux software to be feasible. If you or your company worked with, or helped write, any UNIX or UNIX-like code, please help by telling us what you know.
