Title

Welcome to Grifco!

Description

Grifco was established in 1914 by Charles H. Griffith as electrical contractors and was involved in changing over Sydney’s streets from gaslight to electric light, but motor repairs justified the purchase of some rather outdated lathes & sundry machinery. The company subsequently was engaged in regular machining activities up until the conclusion of the second world war & for several years after.

On Charles Griffiths passing the company was left to his 2 sons and 2 senior staff including Morton Nicholson who ultimately took control of the business. Charles H. Griffith & Co Pty Ltd has been run by the Nicholson family to the present day.

Towards the latter part of WWII the company developed a range of warning sirens originally developed for the war and began producing small numbers of industrial door operators, both these products are still manufactured today, although we did change the name of our largest siren from “Air Raid” to “Disaster Warning”.
