The Great Canadian Bar-B-Q Company is a small, home based barbecue catering company dedicated to having fun, enjoying life and preserving the lifestyle and the tradition of Southern Barbecue. Southern barbecue is the art of cooking meats at very low temperatures for as much time as it takes to become mouth-watering tender. So, having fun, enjoying life and barbecue are really all about the same thing; taking time to enjoy family and friends.
Sylvie Plante and Peter Follett are the owners and operators of The Great Canadian Bar-B-Q Company. Both are long time barbeque enthusiasts and have been working with and enjoying food for over twenty years. In 2001, before opening for business, Sylvie and Peter traveled through the southern States sampling barbecue and learning the secrets of the pitmasters. Peter has also studied with Paul Kirk,
The Great Canadian Bar-B-Q Company began by using a barbecue custom built in Houston TX by David Klose (www.bbqpits.com). When Sylvie and Peter moved to northern Ontario in 2003, the Klose pit stayed in Orangeville where it continues to delight crowds under the capable direction of Jan and Bob of Olde Texas BBQ. Sylvie and Peter are now cooking with a new custom designed pit, built in northern Ontario, mounted on a trailer and featuring full, Health Dep’t approved, kitchen facilities.
