Great Brook Enterprises was established in June of 1978 for the purpose of providing alternatives to "conventional" energy sources that have been growing more expensive and more unstable in terms of availability. The owner and founder David M. Austin recognized the energy crisis and gas lines of the 1970's not as a disaster but a wake up call and an opportunity to help create a better world for the future. Solar energy as an industry was at the time in a revival infancy (the first infancy being in the 1920's and 30's with solar hot water systems in Florida and California). Mr. Austin decided that it was the time to jump in on the ground floor to grow with the industry. Over the years he has gained enough knowledge and experience that his skills are in demand.
