About Gourmet Gifts International
Since 1958, John Kniveton has devoted his career to providing a link between families and their friends, parted by the oceans of the world, enabling them easily and safely to send Gifts to their loved-ones without the necessity to physically buy products and ship them, sometimes many weeks in advance, and without the risk of damage, loss, customs duties or countless other like problems.
Originally the service was provided to the significant numbers of British expatriates who emigrated to North America and the Antipodes after the 1939/45 war. Our American and Commonwealth cousins needed to expand their workforces and subsidised costs for families willing to uproot and seek a new life. They left behind parents, brothers, sisters and nostalgia. They left behind austerity Britain, still charred by the ravages of war, food rationing and much else. In most cases they settled to make lives as New Americans, New Canadians, New Australians etc.
In the years that followed, these immigrants needed convenient ways to keep contact with their relatives back home. John Kniveton, already an established packer of food-based Gifts, was at the forefront in inaugurating the delivery service which still delivers many thousands of Gifts every year.
