Description
Google is expected to launch its long-awaited payment system at the end of June. Dubbed GBuy (which was first noted by the Wall Street Journal), the system is seen as a competitor to market leader PayPal. However, at launch the service will only facilitate payments between merchants and their customers, not payments between individuals like PayPal.
On its search result pages, Google will designate each merchant accepting GBuy as a “trusted GBuy merchant,” to encourage consumers to view the merchant as safe, and thus, increase click rates.
Google Spreadsheet, which will be made available on a limited test basis, follows Google’s March purchase of a company offering a Web-based word processor called Writely.
