The idea for Gold Violin came to me in 1993 when I was looking for a memorable gift for my eighty-seven year old grandmother. I was moving overseas and didn’t know when I would see her again. Determined to give her something special, I ruled out the predictable gifts of my past–perfume and chocolates.
After a frustrating search, I purchased a plain wooden cane, sanded the surface and painted my own colorful design. When I gave it to my grandmother, she was thrilled. My stylish walking stick matched her positive outlook on life. Oh, how she would brag to her friends about the thoughtfulness of her granddaughter.
I created Gold Violin for the heroes in our world–people like my grandmother who live rich long lives and inspire us with their experience and insights.
