Godwin Books contains information on several books by George Godwin (1889-1974) and publisher Robert Stuart Thomson. Godwin wrote twenty-one books; all except two (The Eternal Forest, 1994; and Why Stay We Here?, 2002) are out of print. His place as an important Canadian writer rests on these two books. The Eternal Forest (first published in 1929) was described in National History (now, alas!defunct) as “disturbingly relevant” because of its ecological significance. Why Stay We Here? (1930), the sequel to The Eternal Forest, is praised by Professor J. Vance (Death So Proud) as one of the few anti-war books written by a Canadian in this time-frame.
