- LISTEN was incorporated in the winter of 1972. The original purpose of the agency was to: "…involve the low-income citizens of Lebanon and surrounding areas in programs which will improve their ability to meet the economic, cultural, social and environmental needs of their families…" The Listen Thrift Stores have made that possible for countless Upper Valley residents. Our grassroots non-profit has grown along with the region; adding programs to meet emerging needs. The Board recently voted to change the name from Lebanon In Service To Each Neighbor to Listen Community Services and to add Fairlee, West Fairlee, Bethel, Royalton and Woodstock VT to our service area. Listen has helped people in thesecommunities for years. We are now publicly acknowledging that fact and, as we are a United Way agency, we are officially serving the same area as the Upper Valley United Way.
