Mogok is a city in Burma in the Pyin oo lwin District of the Mandalay division, located 200 kms north of Mandalay. It is a well known area for gem stones, especially as the best quality producer of rubies, for millinery. But Mogok does not only produce rubies and sapphires from its mine, it is also the home of spinels. Spinels are found there with other stones (especially rubies and sapphires), associated in limestone marble and calcite.
