Description
Galaxy Portuguese Water Dogs was established in 1988, with the purchase of Cory (Ch. Brinmar's First Encore Galaxy, CD,OA,NAJ,AWD,ROM,TT,CGC) followed shortly by Barney (Ch. Windruff’s Pirate O’ the Galaxy, CD, NA, ROM). My first litter was born in September of 1990. Since then, I have had 12 litters; 12 Champions; a Canadian Champion; 4 titles in Obedience; 6 titles in Agility and two titles in Water. I have also had one "Top Ten," (Barney in 1992) and have now added 2 titlests in the new AKC performance venue Rally-O.
I usually breed one litter a year. My puppies are born and raised in my home with lots of socialization and they are played with every day. The Sire and Dam always have their health testing completed before being used for breeding.
I breed for temperament, structure and, of course, healthy puppies. Temperament is especially important as this has to be a dog that will be a pleasure to live with. When the puppies are seven weeks old, I have a professional trainer perform a “Puppy Aptitude Test” which was developed by Wendy Volhard and is widely used and approved by dog trainers across the country. This assures me and the prospective buyer of my pups the right “fit” for their family and lifestyle.
