- After a series of attacks in the past few weeks, Amnesty International warns of imminent attacks in Darfur. Reports show that the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) are gathering in at least six towns in northern Darfur. More than 40 civilians were attacked late last week in Muhajeria. The attack was supported by a SAF Antonov, painted white, in the colors of the United Nations. According to reports, bombing from the Antonov preceded the attack. This attack followed the 29 September attack on AMIS peacekeepers in Haskanita, which was believed to be by an armed opposition group. The town was then reoccupied by the SAF shortly after the attack. Between October 5th-6th, the town of 750 households was completely burnt down.
