So I’m taking the bus on the way to this music studio a few friends and I set up in my friend’s underground bomb shelter here in Seattle, and I’ve got this new 15” dejembe hand drum that my parents bought me for my birthday, totally the sweetest thing ever. I’m sitting on the left side of the bus and this Persian looking guy turns to me and says, “dude, my friend – what’s this you have here.” And I told him it was a dejembe, an African styled hand drum – and he finds it interesting. So he asks me to play a little something, I start a random groove but I keep it quiet. But he’s into it, and I’m into it – and a few more people get into it, and then a voice comes over the speaker saying “HEY, whoever’s playing that beat back there… turn it up!” followed by whistles from the front of the bus. So I’m like, HELLS YEA! And I bust out everything I got. And the entire bus is like WOOOOOp WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOp– everybody’s getting up and pole dancing – spider monkeys jump from out of nowhere and start to party with us, it was awesome. But then my stop came up all too fast, and everybody was sad. As i was getting off, I turned back and I said, “My name’s Steve, it was nice to meet all of you.” And then everybody waved their right hands, even the spider monkeys – and said “see ya later, Steve.” Then before I stepped off the bus, I poked my head back in one last time and said “hey, you’re all savin the mother fuckin whales now, right?” and they replied thumbs up “we’re all on it!” – so i turned around and walked away forever. Then I woke up. The end.
i just finished another year of school so i'm taking the first weekened of my summer vacation off to sit around my aparment and hang out with my cats and i've been having a great time. first we'll wake up and eat food, then we'll sit around and watch tv for a couple dozen hours, then we'll look out the window at birds for another dozen hours - oh and then things start to get interesting because we get into the cardboard boxes and hide for another few hours. then before i know it, the days already over and its bed time.
