Description
This website features mainly the collection of fungi and wild mushroom paintings by Peter Thwaites, a commissioned artist to the British Mycological Society.
During his early years in Cornwall, Peter used the medium of painting and drawing to record the natural world and his paintings of mushrooms and toadstools were exhibited there. Working now from his studio in Dorset, the New Forest and Dorset Heathlands offer considerable scope to expand the fungi portfolio.
He works only from live specimens which are usually painted life size. With his eye and skill to depict detail, these paintings bring the beauty and amazing sculpture of the mushroom world to life. He has exhibited at the Royal Watercolour Society's C21 exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in London, at the international ArtExpo in Atlanta and recently at the Five Arrows Gallery at Exbury Gardens in Hampshire with the Four Seasons Artists and a solo exhibition of Wild Mushroom Art.
