Don Kennedy, a Boulder fire fighter, saw the need for a fire truck repair facility in the city that he served. In 1966 he and his wife Elinor started Fire Equipment Mechanics to fill this need. Don retired from the fire service in 1984 and approached Pierce about attaining a dealership for the state of Colorado. He was awarded the dealership and Front Range Fire Apparatus was born.
