F.P.D. Enterprises started out as "J-CO Supply" in 1955 when our founder, Joe Vogel, decided to put his theatrical experience to use to start his own business supplying props, lighting, and custom backdrops to the theatrical community in and around Chicago and the Midwest. Growing up on the south side of Chicago, Joe spent much of his early life working in theatres and mastering just about every job from Assistant Electrician to Prop Master and Production Manager.
After becoming frustrated with the lack of theatrical equipment supplies available locally, he decided to start his own "supply house" in the back of his uncle's filling station. Business took off quickly, thanks to Joe's knowledge of the industry and access to theatre professionals.
Soon, the filling station could no longer contain all of J-CO's equipment and inventory. An old quonset hut on an adjacent piece of land was then pressed into service as an early warehouse.
