The story of Foundation Drillers, Inc began to take form in 1981. Spencer Hodge opened a welding shop in Fort Worth, Texas. A close friend, S.R. Perkins of Decatur, Texas had a small utility contracting company. From Hodge's association with Perkins came the idea of going into the foundation drilling business. Beginning in 1982 with two 1940 Hughes BDH's, Hodge was off and running. Foundation Drillers, Inc. now boasts up to 20 employees (depending on the workload), some of which came with experience, some who had to be trained. The firm has taken on a host of projects from drilling holes for sign posts to foundations for major bridge complexes.
