ARTIST BIO: Born in 1957, Alan Stricof grew up in the Detroit suburb of Oak Park. He graduated from Oakland University, in Rochester, Michigan, in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a teaching certificate. Alan has taught Spanish and French and has also done translation work. He is the creator of the internationally-selling, educational, foreign language game, Battling Interpreters, published and marketed by Teacher's Discovery, of Auburn Hills, Michigan. Alan's first fluorescent paintings date back to his senior year of high school - 1976. A number of Denver-area art galleries have hosted his "Purple Haze" blacklight art show. In 1992, Alan started Fluorescent Works with his own pre-print line of wearable blacklight art. In addition to promoting his own art work, in 1995, Fluorescent Works began offering a custom T-shirt service. We are, to the best of our knowledge, the world's first custom T-shirt contractors! Odds are that you won't find any such listing in your phone book. Fluorescent Works has also expanded its product line over the years and now offers tie dyes and stock imprints. We maintain our proud tradition of offering quality, ultra non-commercial, wearable art.

The psychedelic Sixties meet the New Age in the fluorescent (blacklight) artwork of Alan Stricof. Fluorescent Works brings you twelve of his strikingly bold designs as wearable art. They are all reproductions of paintings Alan created and, like the originals, all are fluorescent. Our T- shirts and sweatshirts will light up and glow under blacklights, making them perfect "party shirts". We use special fluorescent inks to re-create the blacklight effect of the original paintings. Alan has, on occasion, taken an art gallery, or a portion of one, decked it out with blacklights, burned some incense, played some rock music and called the show, "Purple Haze". This title, besides serving as a tribute to Jimmy Hendrix and the times in which that great musician played, is appropriately named for another reason as well. The "Purple" is for the blacklights and the "Haze" is for the incense!
