Description
Film Night is a community-based organization that has produced film-related events in San Anselmo, California, since the early 1990’s. One of its early successes was CAFFE NUVO FILM NIGHT, a monthly film forum held at a small café in San Anselmo. The film forums presented the work of many different community filmmakers, from students with super 8 shorts, to professional filmmakers working on feature length films.
Film Night included screenings of important classic films to its line up in 1991. These screenings grew in popularity and in 1992 the organization started FILM NIGHT IN THE PARK.
This annual film festival takes place outside, at Creek Park, on warm summer evenings and has expanded as its popularity has grown. In 1997 it had an average audience of 200 people per night, with a crowd of over 300 on its opening night screening of CINEMA PARADISO. A dedicated staff of volunteers from around Marin County produces the festival. Tom Boss, the director of Film Night events, founded the organization 1991.
