Fire Escape's BBS is a FREE family oriented WINServer BBS located in St. Louis Missouri that provides a wholesome and entertaining computer bulletin board enviroment for all ages. We offer 30+ online games including Barren Realms, Solar Realms, Legend of the Red Dragon, Planets-TEOS, Global Wars, LORD II, Falcon's Eye, Falcon's Honor, Video Poker, Word, Logic and other adventure games. We also have a chat lounge, 25 message boards on various topics, 8000+ shareware files of various kinds for downloading. We also provide a free POP3 E-mail Address for all validated members. Join us and experience the totally different enviroment of a local computer bulletin board system.
Fire Escape's BBS started out as a single line 1200 baud TriBBS system on November 1st, 1992. As the headquarters BBS for the Fire Escape/314 Area BBS directory, we immediately became the hub for many sysops to advertise their systems and get utilities for their BBSes. Users of all types come to our BBS to get the "latest BBS news and listings" every month and to see what Fire Escape is up to.. Unfortunately, only one member could visit Fire Escape's BBS at any given time, games had to be run by turns, and members received a daily time allotment. Although folks let us know how much they enjoyed Fire Escape's BBS, there was a problem... a busy phone line prevented many members from logging in. If you think about it, the average member would visit for about 60 minutes a day which would only allow about 24 members a day to visit us.
Over the past 5 years we have added more lines and upgraded our modems, hard disks and processors. We've come a long way from our 8088 with it's 10 MEG Hard Disk and 1200 baud modem running TriBBS to our current Pentium-200 with it's 4 GIG drives and three 33.6 modems running WC5/WINServer under Windows NT. Our recent upgrade from TriBBS to WC5 has added 13 telnet or http lines and internet accessibility via a web-browser or telnet client.
