About FeedMiner

What is FeedMiner? We’re a search engine specifically designed for finding RSS and Atom feeds fast and accurately. There are many ways to read feeds, but very few to find them efficiently.

What are feeds? For those unfamiliar with RSS feeds, they are commonly used by blogs and other web sites to share their most recent headlines, summaries, or even full text, without having to visit the web site itself. To use feeds, you either download a feed reader or use one of the web-based readers such as My Yahoo or Bloglines. Major news sites also publish RSS feeds and include USAToday, CNN, Washington Post, and the New York Times. If you look for RSS, you will now see them everywhere. Feeds come in two major types, RSS and Atom. There are others, but these are the most common today.

Why do you need FeedMiner? Because it’s very time consuming to search blogs, news sites, and other web sites for feeds of interest. Once you find a topic that is particularly interesting to you, you have to follow numerous links to a variety of sites. Once there, you search all over the home page to find the feed (if you can). And guess what? Every site labels feeds differently. This is especially frustrating for new users of RSS and Atom feeds.
