Welcome to The Fairfield County Bee, a journal that tries to capture the essence of Fairfield County in a unique new manner. It is written not from the perspective of the typical community newspaper, and not from the perspective of someone trying to "do something on the Internet." The people who write the Bee are just regular citizens, struggling to make sense of our existence, coping with our jobs, our families, our commutes and our neighbors just as most of you do. Most of us are not the "have it alls", and most of us are not the "have nots". We are somewhere in the middle, and trying to be happy with that in a place of oftentimes absurd extremes.
We like the good life, but we are not afraid to admit that we don't live it all that often, and don't have much need of pretense when we do. We think that a reasonable, honest meal served by nice people can be a hundred times nicer than an expensive, phony meal served by charlatans. We are also people who recognize that there is more to Fairfield County than just the typical "Gold Coast" haunts: Fairfield County is both urban and suburban, and we all need to get to know one another a lot better.
But most of all, we are here to speak the truth; in love, if possible, and with wisdom and good humor, but foremost to say what oftentimes is left unspoken. Silence is our greatest enemy. We will say what has to be said with respect, but we will say it nevertheless. We will look at lives with honesty and courage - including our own. And in the process, we hope that we all get some enjoyment and satisfaction.
