Description
What is a Rainbow Room?
Joan, a caseworker for Childrens Protective Services is dispatched to investigate a suspected case of child abuse. She drives up to the house to find the yard littered with trash, beer bottles and broken down cars. When the door is opened, she is overwhelmed by the smells.
An unkempt woman opens the door, reeking of alcohol and obviously impaired. The house is dark and cold. The electricity has been turned off. Two young children huddle together in an attempt to keep warm, covering themselves with a dirty blanket. In a crib lies a baby, crying. His diapers have not been changed all day.
Joan determines that for their own protection she must remove these children from their home. She gathers them up along with whatever meager belongings they have and heads toward CPS headquarters.
