Evolving City has been a distinctive addition to Oxford’s cultural life in 2005. With hundreds of events exploring five themes, the Evolving City programme explored, reflected and celebrated the changing nature of Oxford and Oxfordshire
Philosophy
Central to the idea of Evolving City is the reality of today’s Oxford - a much more complex, interesting and contradictory place than the one generally portrayed. Evolving City turned a spotlight on to the variety and diversity of Oxford’s vibrant creative scene, encouraging people to explore the city’s future, its science, its local culture, its festivals and its European partnerships

The lottery bid was put together by Oxford Inspires, which co-ordinatied and promoted the programme. But Evolving City was also brought to you by all the cultural organisations – more than 100 of them – who made the programme happen over the course of the year.
