In 1783, John Woerner settles Evermore Farm; the Treaty of Paris is signed, ending the Revolutionary War; and, unsettle farmland in the new nation sells for $2.50 an acre. Early settlers in Carroll County, Maryland, lived off the bounty of their farms- fresh fruits and produce from their gardens and grass-fed meats from Heritage breeds such as Devon and Dexter Cattle and New Hampshire Golden laying hens. These fine Heritage livestock breeds still grace the pastures of Evermore. John Woerner (b.1738) lived to be 89 years old, living and working on Evermore Farm. Obviously, he was on to something good!
