Description
The Esquire Music Foundation is a state and federally registered nonprofit organization for which all donations are tax deductible. We teach young musicians to play with the same discipline, subtlety, and emotion that made the original big bands great. The Esquires truly love the music they play and also learn about the rich history of the great dance music and world shaping events of the "Big Band Era."
There are no fees or dues to be in our program. To the contrary, the donations received by the foundation from various organizations and corporations for playing at their dinner dances are awarded as scholarships and grants to the Esquire musicians. These scholarships range from $100 to $1000 per year. As of 1995, the scholarships and grants given to assist the students in completing their college education had exceeded $250,000.00.
We encourage our Esquires in many areas, especially leadership. Each is given opportunities to stretch out and meet new challenges musically. They are also given responsibilities in the operations of running the big band and handling the equipment. Of course, this also requires a great deal of teamwork and an attitude of mutual service which all Esquires, since the band's beginning, have learned well.
