ERS was formed in 1999 with the sole purpose of supporting the SBDS system at Ford dealerships throughout North America. Working closely with Agilent Technologies, ERS secured the rights to maintain the SBDS subsystem. ERS received Agilent Technology factory training and acquired their repair equipment. ERS also secured remaining SBDS support inventory from Hewlett-Packard's Global Support Logistics organization. All helpdesk and technical staff have completed Ford's internal mechanic's SBDS training focused on the use and the benefit of the SBDS diagnostic tool.
ERS has been successful, where other support solutions have fallen short, by utilizing a combination of strategies that take into consideration the realities of the Vehicle Service Bay environment, and the true scarcity of SBDS parts.
