Colon Cancer (As A Source Of Abdominal Pain) - WebHealth
Description
Excerpted from the website description:
- Colon cancer can produce abdominal pain. It develops out of colon polyps and presents mainly in the rectum or in the sigmoid colon. Patients with familial adenomatous polyposis or ulcerative colitis have a higher incidence. There are no early colon cancer symptoms, blood in stool is already a late sign. However, colonoscopy has been found to be a good screening method. Late symptoms are severe abdominal pain, bowel obstruction or ileus. Colon cancer treatment is by colostomy in late stages and by colon resection in more local disease. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy may be needed.
