Description

Emerson Newton-John Racing, LLC is created and managed by Nic Cha Kim and Emerson Newton-John. Since 1999, Nic and Emerson have conducted numerous tests and together ran over 20 races in the US and Australia.

Nic Cha Kim’s interest in art began at Berkeley where he majored in English, played tuba for the UC Concert Band, and worked as the Poetry & Fiction Editor for Slant Magazine -- the campus Asian Pacific American magazine. His first play, A Taste of Home, was produced at the Berkeley Community Theatre as part of the 1996 KSA Culture Show.

After college, Nic moved to Los Angeles and joined the David Henry Hwang Writers Institute at the East West Players. There, Nic developed "The Atruda Triangle," a trilogy of 2-Act plays consisting of Point, Hyperbola, and Trapezoid. He was then selected by playwright Alice Tuan to participate in a collaborative theatre project called Asians in Los Angeles, which resulted in a reading at the Japanese American National Museum. In 2001, Nic became the second recipient of the East West Players New Voices Scholarship, sponsored by the Walt Disney Co./ABC Television Writers Scholarship, a program promoting diversity in network television.
