Description

Company History

The EMERGENCY RESPONSE & RESEARCH INSTITUTE (ERRI), of Chicago, IL, was founded to provide uncomplicated solutions to complex and demanding problems. Late in 1990, ERRI began to undertake a vastly different approach to providing news, information, research and communications services to the emergency response and government community. The EMERGENCY Bulletin Board System (BBS) went on-line on January 15, 1991 with a computer database retrieval service.

The system was originally a direct result of a nation-wide survey conducted among Emergency Medical Service (EMS) managers, who overwhelmingly expressed support for the idea. Within six months, due to popular demand, it was expanded to include fire, police, and disaster services. Soon it was also evident that we should include terrorism, medical, military, rescue, crisis management and other related topics. Over the years, several other related professions and subjects have been added.

Since our humble beginnings, the both the content and the capabilities of the system have continually been upgraded, to provide one of the nation's most comprehensive database and reference systems, designed to serve the emergency and government community. In 1995, this website was instituted, with the intent of providing a user-friendly interface that would better enable emergency, military, and intelligence personnel to access the information that is important to their work.
