- After receiving my esthetician license on September 11, 2001, in Salem, Oregon, just before they closed the building down for bomb threats, I wondered if this would be some weird sign to the beginning of my new career in skin care. After working for a small skin care salon for a year in my hometown of the rainy Pacific Northwest, I was given the wonderful opportunity purchase and expand the business into a day spa. And with the snap of a finger (I wish) it was done. I worked day and night designing the space and treatment menu and finally opened in October of 2002. I had mixed feelings during the time I owned Estetica Day Spa. It was a beautiful space, but it was almost impossible to run a business and do the one thing I loved, which is giving the treatments. My attention had been taken from the treatment room to focus on administrative duties and managing the spa.....which wasn't as exciting as hanging out with my clients everyday. After living with gray, dreary skies for 31 years, I made the decision to sell my business and move to the Bay Area in hopes to create something fabulous in spa industry.
