HISTORY
During the funeral of late Sri.M.G.Joseph of M/s Jos Electricals, Ernakulam an electrical trader on 2 nd April, 1981, it was noticed by the stalwarts of Electric Trades present there that wreaths were laid, representing all sections of trade, except one representing the electrical goods trade. This was the impetus or nucleus, which later gave birth to KETA. Late. Mr. P.D. John who was present there rose to the need of the hour and immediately arranged a wreath in the name of the electrical goods dealers. Subsequently he had discussions with many electrical traders and invited opinions from other leading dealers like Mr.M.C.John, Mr.A.J.Francis, Mr.M.G.Menon, Mr.T.M.Sukumaran, Mr.Antony Elenjikal etc who were unanimous on the need for the formation of an Association of Electrical Goods dealers in Kerala.
By the end of April, 1981 a preliminary meeting was convened at Matha Tourist Home, Ernakulam followed by a couple of meetings more, elected an adhoc committee of Mr.M.C.John, Mr.P.D.John, Mr.A.J.Francis & Mr.Antony of C.V. & Company to prepare the Bye-laws. Mr.T.M.Sukumaran was one of the main architects in formulating the bye-laws . The meeting held in August, 1981 in Matha Tourist Home adopted the Bye-laws of Kerala Electric Trades Association and constituted the first Executive Committee consisting of the following persons
All the Executive Committee members became LIFE members of the Association and under the guidance of Mr.K.F.Varghese, membership campaign started. With the continuous hard work and efforts of Mr.P.S.Raman and Mr.Rajamani etc. membership strength showed a vertical growth.
