Description

Tom is a native Oregonian, born in Oregon City and raised in Woodburn. Tom attended Woodburn public schools until his graduation from Woodburn High School in 2003 with a full CIM Diploma. Tom was involved in his community during his high school years, both through the high school’s leadership program, being elected Freshman class Vice-Chair and ASB Public Relations officer his senior year. Tom was also involved in band, drama, and was editor of the school newspaper, the Wireless, his senior year.

In the community outside of school, he was appointed to the Woodburn Community Center Planning Committee by the mayor of Woodburn, and was also involved in Molalla Community Theater.

Tom moved to Eugene in the fall of 2003 to begin classes at the University of Oregon. To continue with his leadership training, Tom took university President Dave Frohnmayer’s Theories of Leadership class which he passed admirably. Also during fall term of his freshman year, Tom got involved with the then woefully outnumbered University of Oregon College Republicans. Tom has been a staple of the group ever since, being elected as the group’s vice-chairman last year. Through the College Republicans, Tom has met with many civic leaders and assisted with the campaigns for local politicians including Jim Feldkamp. Tom has also volunteered by visiting the elderly in nursing homes and assisted living facilities and has volunteered with the Lane County 4-H chapter.
