- KhmerConnection was conceived in the Summer of 1999. Like any venture, it began as an idea hoping one day to become reality. The story starts out with three college students that wanted to do something worthwhile with their time. After some careful consideration and a much-heated debate they were still not a penny closer to a goal. So with much time to kill and boredom clawing at their minds, they went to their computers and did what almost all Asian-American college students do today... they surfed the web. After a couple of minutes on the Internet, they stumbled upon a Cambodian website. It was then when light bulbs began appearing in their minds. They always said they should do something for the Cambodian community, but never quite knew where they could place their efforts. After coming upon a few more sites, they decided that creating a web portal for the Cambodian community was what they wanted to do. Henceforth, KhmerConnection was born.
