For me as an art viewer, I find abstract imagery can elicit the same emotional reaction as objective imagery. But without any intellectual need for meaning, understanding or expected interpretations. Thus having a purity like instrumental music. So as an artist, I aspire to make abstract art that may elicit the same emotional reaction. Ultimately giving in return, the pleasures I have received from the works of other artists.
All works on paper are done in oil pastel on archival quality paper or board. A few of the works are mixed media (colored pencil, watercolor & ink) with oil pastel and identified so in the larger views.
Oil pastel is my medium of choice for works on paper. Chosen because I can work fast without having to mix paint and clean up. I also found the learning curve is shorter than for watercolor or other painting mediums.
