The conservation and management of our community's water resources are two prime responsibilities and challenges of your East County Water Control District.
Today your District works tirelessly to ensure that our homes, schools, businesses, public facilities and private and public properties are safe and free from flooding. But modern water management also focuses on proper planning to provide the quantity and quality of surface and sub-surface water resources for the current and future residents of our growing community. That means that your District is responsible for both the discharge and recharge of our water resources to maintain a balance between flood control and conservation.
To achieve that critical balance, your District maintains a network of canals, water control devices, structures, and systems, including natural eco-systems that improve water quality, and provide a viable habitat for wildlife and recreational opportunities for our residents.
