East Tennessee Roots Historical/Genealogical Magazine studies the history and genealogy of the East Tennessee area now encompassed by the following counties:
We are particularly fond of eyewitness accounts, such as journals, diaries, and letters. Why? Simply because no amount of study, analysis, and investigation from today's perspective can compare to, "I was there. I saw it, and this is what happened." So we learn first-hand what it was like to be keep both U.S Government and Indians happy as Indian Agent, lifestyles for the first few white settlers in this area, or what it was like to experience the War Between the States. And the beauty of such accounts is that, even if you don't find your ancestor mentioned, you still know that their experiences were similar.
We also transcribe and abstract court records, including various court minutes and wills..And very importantly, our new project of North Carolina land grants in East Tennessee promises to be a major undertaking.
