I think this must be the toughest part of all.. (I've never written anything autobiographical before) Well, I'm forty-something years old and have been a turtle nut for most of those years! I guess it all started when I was a small child. My parents got me one of those baby dime store turtles. That was the first of a long line of pet turtles I've taken in. From that baby dime store turtle to a 35 pound snapper, I've gotten to know them all. There were wood turtles, terrapins, box turtles, red ear sliders and many others. I even went so far as to build a pond in my yard for a pet turtle.
I've rescued turtles from becoming "road pizzas". I even learned to SCUBA dive in order to catch a glimpse of a sea turtle. (Grand Cayman is a great place to see turtles. If you don't see one while diving or snorkeling, there's always the turtle farm.) I have turtle puppets, figurines, pictures, clipart, even my mouse pad has turtles on it.
Aside from turtles there's a very special little girl in my life. My daughter, Stephanie. When she was very young, I used to tell her that if she was very good, the Easter Turtle himself might deliver her basket of Easter treats. Well, it wasn't long before the Tale of the Easter Turtle was growing in my mind. I had to write the book.
