John's dad and grandpa started this business in 1946. Originally a feed mill, John came into the family business in 1976 when it was known as Deiss & Nugent Feed Company. Over the years as business expanded, John realized that his customers needed more than just feed. So in December of 2003, he started The East Ellsworth Mercantile in order to fulfill his customer's wishes. He divides his time between the feed mill and the store. When not working, John spends his off time with family or pheasant hunting.
Rachel is our store manager. She has a four-year degree in animal science from UW-River Falls. Although she has been a Farm Nutritionist for six years, she has been an animal lover her entire life. Since Rachel's family was in the horse business, she literally grew up in a stable and has extensive horse showing background, knowledge, and experience.
Dana has managed our feed departments for over ten years and is a third generation farm service businessman. When not in our store, Dana can sometimes be seen around our community volunteering as a second generation firefighter. He and his wife are the proud parents of a son and triplet daughters.
