"You'll never beleive what your sister has done now" met me one afternoon as I got home from school. At about that time a flash came around the corner of the house and all I saw were ears and legs. Running as fast as she could the flash came bounding down the hill, made two circles around me and was off again to the back yard. My sister finally came around the corner and said, "well, did you see her"? With somewhat of a bewildered look on my face I responded "I saw something, but I am not really sure what it was". This rather comical introduction took place sometime in the early to mid 1970's and it was my first introduction to a German Shepherd dog. Like most guys my age, I had grown up with Rin Tin Tin on the television, but in my hometown, you really didn't see many full blooded German Shepherds. And if you did, they were generally associated with law enforcement. But over the next several, that big sable German Shepherd named Gypsy Rosa Leigh became my buddy and gave me insight into such things as loyality, bravery, and confidence. After about 10 years Gypsy was called to cross over. I sure miss that gal. Gypsy is pictured above cooling it during one of the "dog days" of summer.
