A recent issue of Site Selection magazine placed Effingham in the top 10 of small towns in the U.S. for companies who want to provide a better quality of life for their employees. Dozens of companies have built or expanded in Effingham in recent years, opening the doors for those looking to start or build upon their careers and causing the city to defy the odds in population growth. Where many smaller Illinois communities are losing population, the city of Effingham has experienced increases in recent years.
