Title

Dunblane and Stirling Beekeepers Association

Description

The Association was started to help and encourage the pursuit of beekeeping in the Dunblane and Stirling Districts. However the actual area covered has now expanded to include, in the west, all the Carse as far as Aberfoyle, and in the east over to the Fife border. We also have members as far north as Perth and as far south as Blanefield. The Association now covers Falkirk, Alloa, Clackmannan Districts. At present our membership stands at about 70, including two juniors and three life members.

Our main activities are the indoor meetings and outdoor apiary visits. The indoor meetings run from September to April and usually either involve a guest speaker or activities in which more members participate. In October we have a small informal, though stringently judged, honey show. Although a winner is announced, the more important aspect is the chance to see other member's produce and get inspiration and information.

All the indoor meetings are held in the Cowane Centre, Cowane St, Stirling, at 7.30p.m. usually on the third Tuesday of the month. Apiary visits are held during the summer at members' apiaries on Sunday afternoons, usually followed by tea, starting in May and ending with the Heather Picnic on Sheriffmuir in August. An Association dinner is usually held at the start of the season and a Summer outing at the end of the holidays in August. .
