History
Dole Company was founded in the year 1851 in Hawaii. Company built its brand on its dedication to "quality, and quality, and quality." These were the words of James Drummond Dole's "Statement of Principles," upon which he founded and operated the Company. Enterprise was started by James Dole with $1000.
With this much amount Dole started pineapple growing and canning operation which proved to be successful. Dole established and enhanced the pineapple business into Hawaii's second largest industry. Each and every grocery store of Hawaii now had pineapples at there end. Later the company had a coalition with Castle and Cooke, Inc to include every fruit and vegetable. In the year 1974 mushroom was also added to the list to Dole products. Logo of the company was redesigned in year 1986.In the year 1987 Dole fresh fruit operations were enhanced with the purchase of substantial holdings from Tenneco West which added dates, raisins, plums, table grapes, strawberries, cherries, pistachios and almonds to Dole's product line. The product line was increased by the addition of dried fruits and nuts. A nutrition education program was launched in year 1992 which distributed free nutrition education materials to elementary schools across the United States. The same year company was ranked number one in customer satisfaction during a survey conducted by American Consumer Satisfaction Index. In the year 2003 Dole introduced the DOLE Tropical Gold label on pineapple products.
