- I grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and decided to become an orthodontist when I was young and in braces myself. Beginning at age 15 and continuing on through college, I worked as a camp counselor and canoe guide at a boys' camp in northern Minnesota. While in dental school, I spent my summers working for Parks and Recreation as a coach and playground supervisor. In working with children, I learned how important it is for them to experience positive mentoring and gain self-assurance. I also found that being a mentor was extremely satisfying and a wonderful opportunity for me.
