Description
The Ditchling Gallery specialises in drawings, watercolours, & oil-paintings by Sussex artists depicting the traditional English landscape as well as Scotland & Wales.
It is situated in a small village near Brighton in Southern England, well known for its association with Eric Gill, the calligrapher, engraver, stone carver & sculptor (of the English Arts & Crafts Movement of the 1920's). Other famous artists have lived there, including Sir Frank Brangwyn (1867-1956) , Charles Knight R.W.S. (1901-1990), & Edgar Holloway R.E., all of whose pictures are to be seen at the gallery. Work by Ethel Rawlins, Margaret Milnes, James Howard & Sir Hugh Casson P.P.R.A. is also available.
Here is a wide range of art in the tradition of fine draughtsmanship & figurative painting, together with a selection of original etchings, engravings, & lithographs from the hands of contemporary artists known to us personally.
