- Many of the things that made cable TV a superior technology to over the air TV, satellite TV services like Dishnetwork can do better than cable TV can. These advantages include an ability to send a greater number of channels than the more primitive technology and the clarity of those channels when they arrive at their destination. Cable was definitely an improvement over TV programming that was broadcast over the airwaves in the sense that provided a lot more channels than local broadcasters could offer and it provided a sharper picture. The clearer TV picture that cable TV provided was due to the fact that because the programming was delivered over cables that ran underground, it wasn't nearly as subject to weather conditions as over the air TV was.
