- About Me
- Hello, my name is David and I am disabled. My disability is due to end stage renal disease.� Renal failure is due to brittle diabetes.� My kidneys started to fail in 1992.� I went on peritoneal dialysis in 2001.� Thankfully in 2003 a wonderful person whom I never met gave me a gift of life, a kidney.� The team of surgeons and doctors at the Cleveland Clinic were superb.� My joy was short lived though.� In late 2003, I developed an infection that spread throughout my blood system.� The infection started in the bladder area and quickly spread.� After 3 weeks in the Clinic the infection was brought under control but the damage done to the kidney was irreversible.� My kidney is now operating at only 10% of normal function.� I have now been placed on a pancreas/kidney transplant list and await dialysis.�
