Any of you who have read this blog in more prolific days, know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we support the war in Iraq, and are conservatives through and through. We think America is without "rival" as the standard bearer of freedom in the world, and that we are the world's leader and example regarding human rights and the overall betterment of the lives of humans in the world. I don't think that's over-stating it.
Let's just be clear that I am not, nor should you be, an American first and before all else. I do not believe in "America, right or wrong." My loyalty to this great nation is totally conditional. It is conditional based on its actually being a "great nation," which means I judge it's greatness by some standard beyond its history, and the fact that it is my home. That standard, for those of you who haven't guessed by the Benjamin Rush quote used as a subtitle for the blog, is the Bible. Yes, I am a Christian first, before country, job, church, and even family and where any of those stand against Christ, I will stand against them.
Thus, I'm a little put off by Michelle Malkin's posting of, and implicit approval of a poll that implies that such loyalty is in fact bad. (You have to scroll down a bit in the post to see a chart titled "What do you consider yourself first.") The point of the poll results is apparently that Muslims are bad because their religion comes before their country, and demonstrates that by and large, Christians in those same places have their first loyalty to their countries. Somehow that makes Christians better.
