The Denison Community School District founded in 1856, is located in west central Iowa, approximately 70 miles southeast of Sioux City, 70 miles northeast of Omaha, and 90 miles west of Ames. Included within the district's 172 square miles are portions of Crawford and Ida Counties including the incorporated cities of Buck Grove, Deloit, Denison, and Kiron.
