The 'New' Dean Foods
The "new" Dean Foods was born when Suiza Foods Corporation's acquisition of Dean Foods Company was complete in December 2001 by changing its name from Suize Foods to Dean Foods Company. SZA to DF was another transformation that was made to its name at NYSE. In the years 2002 Dean Foods overtook Boulder, Colo based White Wave, Inc. Some of the other companies merged with Dean Foods are Morningstar Foods, Mocha MixÆ, Second Nature, Horizon Organic Dairy Corporation, Engles' Reddy Ice Company. Dean Foods sells Marie's Dressings and Dean's Dips brands to Ventura Foods. Inclusion of Dean Foods into S&P 500 index was announced by the Standard and Poor's later.
